Quinoa Porridge with Ayurvedic Spices

This protein rich heart warming breakfast will energize and nourish you through out the morning.

Season: Winter

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Serves 4


1 Cup quinoa, rinsed

2 cups water, filtered

1/2 tsp. salt, or to taste

1/2 cup sliced almonds

1/2 cup seasonal berries

2 tsp. coconut sugar

1 tsp. coconut oil, or ghee

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1/2 cup toasted walnuts



Cook 1 cup of rinsed quinoa with 2 cups water. Bring to light boil, then simmer, covered for 15 minutes or until water is evaporated. Place a paper towel over pot ,then put lid back on for 5 minutes. This will yield a fluffy quinoa.


Fluff with fork and add coconut oil, or ghee. Taste for salt. Add all the spices and stir. Sprinkle with sliced almonds, and walnuts. Add berries on top. Sprinkle with coconut sugar.


Cooks note: Gluten free steel cut oats is delicious as well.
